Sometimes, the journey is
better than the destination!
One of the first things I learned in design school is that we aren’t just artists, we are problem solvers.
As designers, we spend our time coming up with unique solutions to all kinds of problems. It can be easy to fall into the trap of immediatly going into problem-solver mode. We get our brief and immediatly fire up the big three programs and start pushing those pixels around the page. While there are times when deadlines and client needs mean that we must be expedient, I thrive in those instances where we are given the time and freedom to tackle a project with true creativity.
I enjoy spending time in the space that lies between the problem and the solution. It’s in that place where ideas are fleshed out and collaboration can thrive. I love the process of bouncing ideas off my coworkers and working together. I truly believe that a finished product can be more creative, and more correct, when teamwork is involved. The area between the problem and the solution is a place where nothing is off limits. It’s a place where ideas can freely flow and where we can iterate designs together and combine our thoughts. This aspect of creating solutions to difficult design problems is one of the greatest pleasures I have in being a designer.
Let’s do more together!
