Max and Jennifer Tay Cover Story
Voyager Magazine 2015, issue 8.4
Voyager magazine — WorldVentures’ flagship bi-monthly publication — received a HOW Design Award in the travel category for Designs created by the WV in-house team.
The cover story featuring WorldVentures Independent Representative Max Tay was one of three designs that were submitted in the entry. I remotely art directed the photo shoot in Singapore from our office in Dallas, Texas and provided the layout and design for the article. The article was designed in Simplified Chinese and later translated into English.
The challenges of this project were some that I had never encountered before. The first challenge was Art Directing a photoshoot on the other side of the world. I provided detailed style guides for wardrobe, a storyboard and shotlist for the photographer, and received live updates via a messenging app with shots that were currently being taken.
I wanted to show Max’s and Jennifer’s fun and relaxed personalities, while at the same time bringing in some of the aspects of the big city that they live in. The colorful bars are meant to symbolize growth and progress towards achieving goals.
Wayne Nugent-Master in the Art of Living
Voyager Magazine 2015, issue 8.1
Wayne Nugent is the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of WorldVentures. I had the pleasure of providing the creative for a story about his philosophy on Fun, Freedom, and Fulfillment.
Not only was I responsible for Art Directing a photoshoot with the Founder of the company I work for, but the shoot was at his house and included a crew of 6, with multiple location changes, prop changes, and a 3 year old little girl!
As a team, we had already set a visual style for this issue of the magazine which included a design element of diagonal “cuts” through the page. I continued this idea, while keeping a clean and introspective feel to the piece.
I feel that the combination of the black and white photos, the thoughtful color bars, and the sparseness of copy on the page give the story a feeling that speaks to Wayne’s journy of becoming a Master in the Art of Living.
